Nolan at 20 Months

One benefit of keeping a blog is having a virtual scrapbook of your life.  We have a baby book for Nolan and we have done a pretty good job of keeping it up to date.  After they reach the age of one there really isn't much that you can put in the book though.  Nolan has just been learning and doing so much lately though so I want a record of it!

While Nolan has had a pretty good single word vocabulary for several months now it seems like within the past few weeks his language has just really taken off!  He is starting to string together a few word phrases, he can count to ten (consistently leaves off the #2 though), he is starting to sing parts of the ABC's and loves it when we sing it to him.  He has also become a parrot and will repeat almost any word we say to him.

His obsession with Elmo is still going strong.  Elmo's World is the only part of Sesame Street he cares to watch and he will often request to watch it.  While we do try to keep his TV watching to a minimum he also enjoys dancing to the final song of Fresh Beat Band and he will say "again" as soon as he knows it is coming to an end.  He is just starting to get interested in Thomas the Train after getting a starter set from the Gray's and Neville from the Laird's.

Meeting his idols Count and Elmo at Seaworld SA in October

He enjoys dancing (gets that from his mom) and in the evenings is being pretty silly where he will do some dancing and then rolling around on the ground.

He loves his baths and is obsessed with the 14 or so rubber duckies that he has to play with in there.  Luckily he is pretty willing to leave them in the tub lately because it is hard when he wants to carry them all with him.  For Christmas he was given some fizzy tabs which can change the water color and some finger "paint" soaps that he can color on the bath tub wall with.

Day 4:  Bathtime!

Knock on wood he is great about going to bed.  His normal time is about 7:30 but can range up until about 8 depending on how many books we read etc.  He prefers it when daddy reads to him but every once in a while will want me to read to him.  He asks for his Baa Baa (his 2 loveys) and his cherished paci that he only gets at bed time.  Kevin will rock him for a few minutes and then puts him down.  After than we don't hear from him until morning.  Some mornings he does not want to get out of bed.  He loves wedging himself between his bumpers...this can make for some great bed head!

He is a decent eater.  He loves chicken and yogurt.  We are getting better about giving him what we are having for dinner.  He normally won't touch his vegetables but we are holding out hope that one day he will go for it.

Day 5:  A little kitchen floor picnic before school
There are 5 older boys that live on our block that Nolan loves to hang out with in the afternoon.  While he can't really play with them due to their size he is envious of all their cool scooters and bikes.  Now that Nolan has a trike we will be out there riding with them in no time!
