Henry is 7 months old today! Luckily we spent the day relatively happy and fever free! Henry decided to have a dramatic last week of being 6 months. It all started last weekend when he was congested but doing pretty well. His eyes were goopy so I feared he might have a ear infection. Early Monday morning he got a small fever so I decided to stay home with him and take him to the doctor to get checked out. The doctor confirmed that he did have an infection in his right ear. She gave us a prescription and sent us on our way. All the rest of the day he did well. I sent him to daycare on Tuesday because he hadn't been running a fever. Tuesday around 2 his teacher called to say that he had temp of 102. Kevin went and picked him up. That night his fever returned and was again again about 102. Wednesday Kevin and I split the day staying home with him. He continued to run a fever. That night after dinner he was burning up so Kevin checked his temp and it was 104.8! We gave him a cool bath and some medicine and it came down. We called the night nurse and she said to keep giving Motrin / Tylenol and if he was still running a fever on Thursday to bring him back to the doctor. For a little while on Thursday he did seem better but right before Kevin came home to stay with him I checked his temp and it was 103. I called and left a message for the doctor. When they called back they wanted him brought in again. Kevin brought him in and they gave him an antibiotic shot and wanted to check his blood levels. They thought the shot would knock anything out and he would be fever free soon. They shot seemed to work for a while, he was back to himself again. He woke up around 10:45 though and was on fire again. We did medicine and a cool bath and put him back to bed. He woke up at another point and was fever free so we thought it had passed. When he woke up for the day the fever was back again. Another call was made to the doctor and they wanted us to come in again. I brought him and he got a second antibiotic shot and a breathing treatment. After that he did get a fever 2 more times but they were less severe. Saturday morning he finally woke up fever free! Luckily throughout all of this Henry was a trooper. There were times that he was definitely upset but he still ate fairly well and gave us a few smiles from time to time. We don't know exactly what he had, they just think some sort of infection that probably started in his ear and got worse.
From being weighed at the doctor I know that he is now 17 pounds. He is making a little more progress on the crawling front but being sick didn't allow for him to practice all that much. He likes to stand on your lap and cracks up when you blow on his belly. He has also started blowing raspberries. He has had a few Mumm Mumm's to eat but just makes a big mess with them. When it isn't combed down he has a crazy sprout of hair on top of his head.
