Baptism and 4th of July



This past weekend Henry was Baptized.  He wore the same gown that Sarah, Katherine and I wore when we were babies. All seven of the grandchildren have worn it now as well.  Henry was a perfect angel during it.  I don't think he really made a peep...not even when he was getting the water poured on his head.  By the end he had fallen asleep.  Nolan was pretty good during it, but we had to wake him up early from his nap to go so he was a little grumpy and wanted to be held the whole time.  After the Baptism was over we had all the family over to our house for some food.  I bought a cake from Costco and all Nolan wanted was to eat the "purple cupcake" (purple flower on the cake).  He immediately went to the dining room table when we walked in the house waiting on his piece!

All of the cousins played pretty well together.  We have had a run away chicken in our backyard for over a week so this added a level of excitement to the backyard.  Henry enjoyed spending time with all of his grandparents, great grandma, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He zonked out at the end and slept well that night.

For the 4th of July we did a little neighborhood parade.  The parade was led off with a fire truck.  This was very exciting for Nolan!  The boys wore their Old Navy flag t-shirts that we bought for them.  We walked in the parade with Nolan's buddy from the street, Madeleine. 

The rest of the day was pretty low key.  Late that afternoon we went over to Nanna and Poppie's to go swimming.  When we walked back in our house around 6:00 we discovered that out A/C had gone out!  Perfect timing...early evening on a holiday!  Luckily there is a company, One Hour Air, that was able to get someone out quickly.  We were lucky that it was just a small part that had broken and we were back in business by about 8:30!  The repair man said it was possible that it had a hard time keeping up because of the 100 degree temperatures we have been having and the number of people in the house the day before.  Looks like we might look into getting a second unit at some point in the future!

We did not bother trying to see any fireworks this year.  Both boys were asleep long before they even started.  Maybe in a few years we will venture out to see some.
